
Funding for humanities and social science researchers to create new links beyond academia by partnering with UK government departments to address policy challenges around sustainability.
Partners for this call are:
- the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra)
- the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ)
- the Government Office for Science (GO Science)
Applications are invited for fellowships in the following areas:
- Landscape Recovery (Defra)
- Public Participation Strategy (DESNZ)
- Climate, Society and International (GO Science)
These policy areas are broadly aligned with the British Academy’s own Sustainable Futures policy programme. Detailed descriptions of the scope of each policy area can be found in the scheme notes below.
Applicants should note that Fellows will finalise the outline of a work programme with the partner after being awarded the Fellowship, meaning they are not required to submit a research proposal as part of the application.
ELIGIBLITY
Applicants must be ordinarily resident in the UK with a current long-term appointment that will continue for at least the duration of the award at a UK-based institution Higher Education Institution or Independent Research Organisation, and be at early- or mid-career stage.
Applicants must also meet the requirements set out in the scheme guidance notes, in particular those noted in the ‘Security Clearance and Nationality Requirements’ section.
VALUE AND DURATION
Awards are for 12 months and are worth up to £120,000.
Within this budget, applicants must commit between 0.4 and 0.8 FTE to the Fellowship.
