Funding for early career researchers in the humanities and social sciences to attend a research collaboration symposium on the broad theme of ‘Humans and Nature: More resilient towards the future’.
The symposium is designed specifically to encourage collaboration and networking. In advance of the symposium, participants will be able to discuss their research and exchange ideas among themselves, begin to discuss the session themes and make connections for possible future activities.
Themes and questions to be addressed could include, but are not limited to:
- contested society and nature conceptualisations
- social and environmental justice perspectives
- norms and values
- sustainability and resilience in coupled human-nature systems
- knowledge generation and narrative development
The format of the event itself will allow for extensive discussion and debate, with considerable time set aside for this and wider networking opportunities.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligible applicants must be early career researchers (understood as up to ten years after obtaining a PhD) affiliated with research institutions in the UK or Germany.
Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant’s research interest in the theme of ‘Humans and Nature: More resilient towards the future’, commitment to interdisciplinary engagement, and potential for career development through symposium participation.
VALUE AND DURATION
Travel, accommodation, and visa costs will be covered. Participants are expected to attend the entire symposium and travel on designated dates.
In order to incentivise long-term collaboration and networking, seed funding will also be made available for which participants can apply.
