Pre-announcement: UKRI creating opportunities – rethinking economic (in)activity (call opens: 3 February 2025 – 6 May 2025)

Funding to deliver an interdisciplinary project that will identify ways of supporting economic activity in places experiencing high rates of ill-health, disability, and informal care in the UK.

The successful project will work across four areas:

  • Developing a deeper contextual understanding of place-based economic inactivity in the UK.
  • Actively bridging the research-to-practice gap.
  • Exploring options for widening access to administrative data for inactivity research.
  • Exploring and setting out what a potential future research agenda in this space could look like.

ELIGIBILITY

Applications may be submitted jointly by more than one applicant.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to include project co-leads from business, the third sector or government bodies based in the UK.

VALUE AND DURATION

The total FEC of your project can be up to £1.2 million (applicants are encouraged to bid for the maximum funding available).

The duration of this award is 24 months.
