Flexible Grants for Small Groups

Funding for researchers to explore and present original research ideas which take new approaches, and suggest new solutions, to real world social problems. Such work should be unlikely to be funded by other funding bodies.

ELIGIBILITY

Researchers from anywhere in Europe who hold a PhD are eligible to apply as Principal Investigator to lead a small group of 2-10 scholars (which may include graduate students). 

VALUE AND DURATION

Grants of up to £7,100 are available for one or more short periods of face-to-face joint group work such as workshops, working-in-pairs, or short academic visits over a period of up to one year.

The awards are intended as providing flexible support for the activities of the group – for example:

  • relief from teaching
  • administration
  • research and travel expenses
  • fieldwork and practical work

Stipends are not provided.

KEY DATES

Deadline: 10 January 2025 (applicants are strongly advised to submit applications well in advance of the deadline)

Applicants can expect to be informed of the result of their applications by email by the end of May 2025.

Funded activity must commence no later than the end of December 2025.
