Motability Foundation – Research Grant Programme

Grants to undertake research to help better understand the problems that disabled people face in the transport system and how they can be solved.

The following are examples of research areas where the Motability Foundation is focusing its grant-making, including but not limited to:

  • Research into barriers and challenges faced by disabled people when accessing or using transport.
  • Transport-related research that identifies good practice and evaluates solutions.
  • Conducting research to inform and improve new or existing transport-related programmes and product design.

The funding can be used for:

  • Full cost recovery grants.
  • Research work which fits within the three routes to impact.
  • Staff costs to undertake research or evaluation.
  • Revenue costs to support the research or evaluation.
  • Costs to engage the skills of an independent research or evaluation organisation.
  • Partnership working.

Examples of funded work include:

  • An evaluation of current work to scale up provision or evidence need to upscale work nationally.
  • Research into the challenges and solutions for disabled people in rural communities.
  • Understanding experiences of disabled people when travelling by public transport.

Applications may be submitted at any time before March 2025
