Join a research network: European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST)

A COST Action is an interdisciplinary research network that brings together researchers and innovators to investigate a specific topic for a period of four years.

It is possible to join and participate in an existing network once it is up and running, even if you were not involved at the proposal phase (this applies throughout the entire lifespan of a COST Action), and 80 newly-approved research networks are now available to browse on the COST website and in the document at the bottom of this post.

The new Actions cover topics as wide and varied as:

  • psychosis prevention
  • silent fans
  • neuromorphic computing
  • vaccines for overall health benefits
  • artificial intelligence
  • conservation of modern art
  • parental and children well-being

These networks are well-suited to multidisciplinary collaboration, with 61% of the new Actions covering at least two OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) fields of science and technology, while 20% cover at least three fields.

Alternatively, the Open Call for brand new COST Action proposals will open on 31 July 2026 and close on 28 October 2026.
