Pre-call announcement: Churchill Fellowships

Funding for discovering new ideas and best practice from leading practitioners across the world that can deliver meaningful benefits in the UK.

This learning period can take place entirely via travel, entirely online where you would connect with overseas contacts online from the UK, or a hybrid mix of travel and online learning from the UK.

Fellowships are offered within a framework of universal themes which cover every aspect of society and feed into a rotating programme of fellowship programmes to apply under. The current programmes are as follows:

The specific topic you explore is defined by you. Success will be assessed within your own terms and may be local or national.

Applicants whose projects may not fit the current programmes are encouraged to apply under an open option, provided they fit the scheme’s general criteria.

ELIGIBILITY

Any UK citizen, living in the UK and aged 18 or over can apply regardless of their academic qualifications, profession or background.

Note that applications aimed solely at conducting academic research projects will not qualify unless they deliver practical benefits to a wider community or sector in the UK. In other words, eligibility rests on broader societal impact.

VALUE AND DURATION

Each grant is calculated individually, based on the project, destinations, and length of learning.

Funding is for 4-8 weeks and covers costs such as the following:

  • travel and subsistence while you are learning
  • interpreters
  • visas and vaccinations
  • support workers if needed
