{"id":915,"date":"2024-11-19T17:07:11","date_gmt":"2024-11-19T17:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=915"},"modified":"2024-11-19T17:07:12","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T17:07:12","slug":"innovate-uk-smart-grants-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=915","title":{"rendered":"Innovate UK Smart Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"330\" src=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Innovate-UK-logo-1024x330.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Innovate-UK-logo-1024x330.png 1024w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Innovate-UK-logo-300x97.png 300w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Innovate-UK-logo-768x247.png 768w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Innovate-UK-logo.png 1491w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Funding for research and development innovations with significant potential for rapid economic return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These grants support micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and their partners to develop R&amp;D projects aimed at swift, successful commercialisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Academic institutions cannot lead or work alone but can form part of project teams lead by eligible businesses (if you want help finding a project partner, contact\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iuk.ktn-uk.org\/\">Innovate UK Business Connect<\/a>).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Innovate UK will fund feasibility projects, industrial research projects and experimental development projects, as defined in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/councils\/innovate-uk\/guidance-for-applicants\/general-guidance\/categories-of-research-and-development\/#contents-list\">guidance on categories of research<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be in scope, proposals must demonstrate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A groundbreaking and innovative idea for brand new products, processes or services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An idea that is significantly different from already available products, processes or services globally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An idea that is set for rapid commercialisation following project completion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear potential to positively impact the UK\u2019s position, productivity and competitiveness within the global economy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A clear, evidence-based business plan to deliver significant economic impact, return on investment (ROI) and growth through commercialisation, as soon as possible after project completion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why Smart funding is the right potential funding for your project, and the journey you have already been on to reach the point of application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A team with the necessary skills and expertise to deliver the project successfully and on time, and to achieve rapid commercialisation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awareness of all the main risks the project will face with realistic management, mitigation and impact minimisation plans for each risk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sound, practical financial plans and timelines that represent good value for money, including the funding of post project activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects must also focus on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Taking customer and user needs into account to deliver more desirable and useful solutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identifying who is ready to buy your innovation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being developed, planned and resourced beyond the end of the Innovate UK funded project, taking into account the focus of any project partners and their existing commitments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fitting in with and complementing your ongoing business planning and development, product offerings and organisational structure to maximise chances of success.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-decoration:underline\">VALUE AND DURATION<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects of 6 to 18 months must have total eligible project costs between \u00a3100,000 and \u00a3500,000 and can be single or collaborative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects of 19 to 24 months must have total eligible project costs between \u00a3100,000 and \u00a31 million and be collaborative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research organisations undertaking non-economic activity as part of the project can share up to 30% of the total eligible project costs.
