{"id":676,"date":"2024-08-09T10:22:14","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T10:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=676"},"modified":"2024-08-09T10:22:14","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T10:22:14","slug":"royal-society-research-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=676","title":{"rendered":"Royal Society Research Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"441\" height=\"165\" src=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/The-Royal-Society-logo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-677\" srcset=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/The-Royal-Society-logo.png 441w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/The-Royal-Society-logo-300x112.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 441px) 100vw, 441px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Funding for scientists who are at an early stage in their career or returning from a career break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The objectives of the scheme are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enable newly independent researchers to gather preliminary data, develop their research ideas and strengthen applications for further funding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support independent researchers returning after a career break to enable them to develop new ideas and research questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase the availability of equipment and consumables for researchers at the beginning of their career and those returning from career breaks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Funds can cover:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consumables.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel costs and subsistence for essential field research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This scheme is for you if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You hold a PhD or equivalent qualification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are within the first five years of an independent research post, at the time of application. This can be either your first permanent independent academic research post or a named limited-tenured\/fixed-term academic research post, obtained in open competition (note that tenure must cover the duration of the award).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are based at an eligible UK organisation and a UK resident at the time of application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are a fully independent researcher with access to your own lab space and with the ability to recruit and be registered as the primary supervisor of PhD students and research assistants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your research is within the Royal Society\u2019s remit of natural sciences, which includes but is not limited to biological research and biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics.
