{"id":2809,"date":"2026-11-02T16:42:53","date_gmt":"2026-11-02T16:42:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=2809"},"modified":"2026-11-02T16:42:54","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T16:42:54","slug":"asme-gmc-excellent-medical-education-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=2809","title":{"rendered":"ASME\/GMC Excellent Medical Education Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"184\" height=\"162\" src=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/ASME-logo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2810\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Researchers working in medical education and healthcare professional training can apply for funding for research, development and innovation in these areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications are welcome across a broad range of the GMC&#8217;s 2026\u201330 strategic priorities, covering undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, as well as continuing professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Historically, fewer applications propose research in the postgraduate and CPD areas, so these are particularly encouraged during this round of applications.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">ELIGIBILITY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PIs must be an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asme.org.uk\/membership\/individual\/\">individual ASME member<\/a> and their organisation must be able to fulfil the role of \u2018research sponsor\u2019 (this includes NHS organisations and academic institutions).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">VALUE AND DURATION<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three grants of up to \u00a35,000 each are available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Projects can be up to 12 months in duration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grant funding can be used to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>hire a research assistant or student intern to work on the project (FEC, HEI and NHS Indirect Costs will not be supported)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pay for open access publisher fees where there is not already an agreement in place between the applicants\u2019 institution and the publisher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pay for software licence agreements that are bespoke to the project (if there is not already an agreement in place between the applicants\u2019 institution and the supplier)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pay for equipment specifically required for the project (any equipment costs must not include VAT)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>support conference attendance (although this must not be more than one fifth of the total amount of the application)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provide transcription costs (these cannot exceed \u00a316 per hour)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>participant payments (the need to provide payments should be justified)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">KEY DATES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Deadline: 7 January 2027<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More information including how to apply, assessment criteria and details of past awards can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asme.org.uk\/awards\/asmegmceme\/\">opportunity webpage<\/a>.
