{"id":2211,"date":"2026-03-24T11:38:05","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T11:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=2211"},"modified":"2026-03-24T11:38:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T11:38:06","slug":"vivensa-foundation-early-career-postdoctoral-fellowship-scheme-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=2211","title":{"rendered":"Vivensa Foundation Early Career Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme\u00a02026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"405\" height=\"129\" src=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Vivensa-Foundation.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Vivensa-Foundation.png 405w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Vivensa-Foundation-300x96.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 405px) 100vw, 405px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Funding for promising early career researchers who can demonstrate a capacity for independent research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The focus of the proposed research project\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0address one or more of the following priority research themes outlined in <a href=\"https:\/\/view.genially.com\/67935c503c9a38a4a7d6cc3a\">Vivensa\u2019s strategic framework<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Research that focuses on the underlying <strong>biological mechanisms of ageing-related conditions and disease<\/strong>, in particular, addressing inequalities in the rate of biological ageing and the links and interactions with the social determinants of health.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research that addresses <strong>the causes, management and treatment of specific conditions which have been shown to be under-addressed<\/strong> and under-funded in research relative to their prevalence in older age groups. The Vivensa Foundation has identified age-related issues associated with:<ul><li>vision<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>hearing loss<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>infection(s)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>respiratory disease<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>musculoskeletal conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scaling and spreading person-centred interventions<\/strong> that have the potential to prevent, delay or reduce future health and social care requirements, particularly through the promotion of innovative VCSE-researcher-public sector partnerships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Planning for, designing and developing suitable homes and communities for an ageing population<\/strong> while also addressing the needs of underserved communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Priority will be given to those applications that most clearly and credibly demonstrate alignment with one or more priority research themes.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All proposals, regardless of topic, should also be aligned with the Foundation\u2019s key principles for research, in particular:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patient, carer and\/or public involvement (PPI) should be considered in all aspects of the proposed study and its development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) should be considered in all aspects of the proposed study and its development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A commitment to capacity-building and researcher career-development in ageing-related research during and beyond the lifetime of the proposed Fellowship \u2013 in line with Vivensa\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vivensafoundation.org.uk\/news\/concordat-annual-report-and-updated-action-plan-published-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">action plan in support of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 should be demonstrated, with practical examples.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where appropriate, proposals should demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach to the proposed research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background\">ELIGIBILITY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This scheme is for researchers with one to three years\u2019 postdoctoral research experience at the time of the application deadline. Career breaks, parental leave, etc. will be taken into account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that this scheme prioritises areas which are underfunded or are not associated with significant, dedicated national or international charities (e.g. applications with a specific focus on cancer will not be accepted).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work that primarily benefits people outside the UK and\/or organisations based outside the UK will not be funded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Multiple candidates can apply from the same academic institution. However, only one candidate per Faculty \/ Department \/ School \/ Centre \/ Institute (or equivalent body) may apply.
