{"id":2062,"date":"2026-02-12T16:18:47","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T16:18:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=2062"},"modified":"2026-02-12T16:18:47","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T16:18:47","slug":"diet-and-health-collaborative-research-and-development-grants-notification-of-intent-stage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=2062","title":{"rendered":"Diet and health: collaborative research and development grants (notification of intent stage)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"247\" src=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/BBSRC-logo-1024x247.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2063\" srcset=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/BBSRC-logo-1024x247.png 1024w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/BBSRC-logo-300x72.png 300w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/BBSRC-logo-768x185.png 768w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/BBSRC-logo-1536x371.png 1536w, https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/BBSRC-logo.png 1989w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funding to support collaborative R&amp;D projects developing novel products and innovations delivering healthy, sustainable, and resilient diets for the UK population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Projects should address one or more of the following priority areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>improving the nutrition of food and drink products to support populations at higher risk of malnutrition, muscle loss or both, for example those using GLP-1 drugs, older population groups and those from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting research and innovation to assess the impact of food processing and final food product composition on health, including but not restricted to assessing and improving the nutritive value retained by different processing methods, as well as evaluating the impact of food additives and emulsifiers on human physiology, to develop innovations and sustainable alternatives to support healthy sustainable diets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improving environmental outcomes for novel innovations in the food and drink sector for example by considering a circular economy approach seeking to reduce waste and food losses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To address these themes, your project can focus on one or more of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>biofortification to enhance the nutritional profile of food and drink products and improve nutrition of the UK population (including, but not limited to, fibres, folates, iron, vitamins, proteins, omega-3.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>re-formulation and processing innovations to retain and or\/improve the nutritional value of food products and provide suitable and sustainable alternatives to processing ingredients<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>increasing the affordability and accessibility of nutritious food and drink products across the UK, reducing food inequalities and empowering a productive workforce contributing to the UK economy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>considering consumer behaviour towards diet and health and drivers of food choices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>increasing resilience of the UK food system by creating conditions for a robust supply chain, enabling the UK population to access healthy sustainable food<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#fcb90038\"><em><strong>This opportunity has a mandatory notification of intent (NOI) stage. It requires a short vision and approach of the proposed work and a list of the anticipated \u2018core team\u2019 members.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">ELIGIBILITY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Projects must include at least one industry partner contributing 30% of the FEC (cash, in-kind or both).
