{"id":1194,"date":"2025-03-06T10:13:53","date_gmt":"2025-03-06T10:13:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=1194"},"modified":"2025-03-06T10:13:53","modified_gmt":"2025-03-06T10:13:53","slug":"breast-cancer-now-project-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=1194","title":{"rendered":"Breast Cancer Now Project Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" src=\"https:\/\/researchfunding.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Breast-Cancer-Now-logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1195\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Funding to support scientific excellence and innovative research into breast cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants should indicate how their proposal meets one or more of Breast Cancer Now\u2019s strategic objectives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Improving treatments, care and services for those affected by secondary breast cancer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improving support for the physical and mental health, and the emotional wellbeing of people affected by breast cancer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing kinder, smarter treatments for people with breast cancer and improving access to treatments for those affected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improving detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Furthering our understanding of why breast cancer occurs and spreads and using our knowledge to help prevent breast cancer developing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background\" style=\"text-decoration:underline\">ELIGIBILITY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible to apply, you should have conducted independent research in the field of breast cancer or be an experienced researcher in a related field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional eligibility criteria are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicants must be based at a recognised university, research institution or NHS trust in the UK or Ireland.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lead Applicants should hold contracts that extend beyond the period of the grant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lead Applicants with a fixed-term position may apply, but they cannot request costs for their salary. They must include a letter from the Head of Department to indicate that their salary will be covered for the duration of the project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants may be new to breast cancer research, but the proposed team must include people with relevant breast cancer expertise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lead Applicants may not apply for more than one grant as Lead Applicant but may apply as a Co-Applicant or Collaborator on more than one application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants may have spent time away from research (e.g. a career break, maternity leave, long-term sick leave).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Co-Applicants and Collaborators may be based at institutions outside the UK\/Ireland and\/or at pharmaceutical or biotech companies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications for research that will take place within the NHS will be considered. Should the research become part of a clinical trial, Breast Cancer Now will fund the research but will not act as a sponsor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background\" style=\"text-decoration:underline\">VALUE AND DURATION<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grants are typically limited to \u00a3400,000. Applications requesting more will be considered, but you should contact Breast Cancer Now\u2019s research team as early as possible before applying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funds will cover staff salary,&nbsp;research expenses and essential equipment.
